GENERAL

How does Nutritional Therapy work?

Nutritional Therapy uses an investigatory approach. I take the time to review all aspects of your life in relation to any symptoms you want to address, in order to consider the potential underlying causes of ill-health and provide personalised recommendations.

These include - your health history, family health history, levels of stress, sleep and lifestyle.

We are also trained in test analysis in order to be able to analyse any recent test results you may have & provide additional testing advice, where appropriate.

 

APPROACH

What is Functional Medicine?

Functional medicine is a holistic approach that focuses on the client and their individuality, as opposed to the symptoms or disease.

This approach focuses on assessing the individual factors that may be contributing towards ill health in order to offer personalised advice to address the root cause of the problem, rather than just managing or suppressing the symptoms.

 

HEALTH

Can I use Nutritional Therapy whilst I am on medications?

Yes.

As part of my initial three year studies, I am trained to understand interactions between prescription medications & nutrients. For this reason, I will ask you to complete a thorough health questionnaire prior to our consultation & disclose any medications you take, including the dose, so that I can ensure my recommendations fit safely alongside.

In addition, I am a member of Practice With Confidence which is run by a pharmacist, to ensure I am always practicing safely.

 

SUPPLEMENTS

Do I need to take supplements?

Nope. 

Supplements can be really helpful in some circumstances and I may recommend supplements (& functional testing) if I think that this may be beneficial to you, but if this is not the path for you, that’s fine too.

Nutritional Therapy promotes a food first approach - after all you can’t out supplement a bad diet.

OUTCOMES

How quickly can I expect results?

Change doesn’t happen over night & Nutritional Therapy is not a quick fix. It is best implemented over a period of time in order to create sustainable results.

Everyone is different & therefore your response to nutritional therapy will vary depending on your health status & level of compliance.

If you need more than your initial package, I offer additional support to help keep you on track & progressing.

Yes. In fact, often my clients do have more than one area they would like to look at.

We will complete a comprehensive initial review, focusing on you, not your diagnoses and bring these together in the context of you, your life & habits so that I can provide you with feedback & tailored easy-to-follow advice.

Contrary to popular belief, Nutritional Therapy isn’t just about what you eat.

We consider all aspects of your life - from how you were born & raised, to your work/life balance, stress levels & sleep, on top of your eating habits.

For this reason, most people would benefit from Nutritional Therapy.

Appointments that are cancelled within less than 48 hours of your booking & “no shows” will be charged in full.
